Up there among the big myths surrounding QlikView. Fired on by QlikView enthusiasts at almost every customer. "Look what I did in 2 hours. Didn't even need any consultants...". Consulting around QlikView is deemed to be small or non existent even by QlikTech. Just to mention one thing QlikTech actually introduced their Expert Services department recently with the word consulting crossed over. Hmmm...services... :-) So, is the myth true? NPrinting lets you use data from Qlikview documents to create reports and spreadsheets in Excel. All you have to do is open NPrinting and load the QlikView document you want to use. Click to enlarge. You can build reports in minutes by dragging and dropping data fields into Excel templates. Format the fields using standard Excel commands and buttons. Then generate the report and you're done....

| 2009/06/16 As Big BI Gets Hip, QlikTech Targets Larger Deployments
Hoping to land bigger deals and ever-larger customers, QlikTech this week released QlikView 9.0, an upgrade of its in-memory BI platform laced with new features aimed at enterprise-grade deployments. Those features start with a battery of enterprise manageability improvements, including a visual administrative control panel that provides one view of all deployed QlikView servers. The vendor has bolstered load balancing and handling of large, complex and concurrent queries. Also new is a PDF Report Generation and Distribution feature that fills the production reporting role -- long a bread-and-butter staple for the larger BI suites. These gaps had to be filled for QlikTech to win bigger deals, yet QlikView still doesn't the fit the mold of its larger competitors....

Last week’s post about QlikView 9.0 prompted an inquiry from a manager who has been trying for a year to convince his company to consider the product. Having run into this issue many times, I easily felt his pain and we speculated a bit on what might help things along. One obvious tactic would be to purchase QlikView on a pay-as-you-go basis, presumably cloud-based. But a quick check with QlikView confirmed that they don’t allow this and have no plans to change....
